Spotlight: Last Contact & Next Contact Traffic Lights
What are they and how do they work?
POSTED BY THE YOURPCM GROWTH TEAM ON 09/02/2023 @ 8:00AM
You know that we always say that YourPCM is the CRM for UK small business owners, but at the heart of any good Customer Relationship Management system is the contact database. So what's so brilliant about ours?
YourPCM can send you an email each weekday morning to remind you who's on your red list!
This series of blog posts will spotlight some of the core features of the YourPCM platform and explain why they'll help your small business grow and thrive. First up, is our 'last contact' and 'next contact' traffic light system which is one of the primary features of our contact database.
"YourPCM was built by a small business owner, our founder, Steffi Lewis!"
She's a 30-year veteran web developer and she build it that way because that's what she, as a small business owner, needed. During the pandemic, she was part of a BNI chapter and being a conscientious member, needed to know when she last had a 121s with another member. As they happened, she'd update the last contact date so she could schedule another one at the appropriate time.
In addition, when she was making contact with potential new clients for her legacy digital marketing company, if someone was interested and said, "Can you call me at the end of the month?" she could update the next contact date field and know when to reach out to them again.
"And that's where our traffic light system came from!"
Regardless of whether it's a fellow BNI member, a customer, a client or even a prospect, it's always useful to know when you last spoke to someone, or when they've asked you to call them again.
Staying 'top of mind' is vital for small business owners, and far too many forget that it's much easier to sell to an existing customer or client than it is to find a new one. Our traffic light system, in which you can set the thresholds for green, amber and red, really helps you with that.
In addition, YourPCM can send you an email each weekday morning to remind you who's on your red list and you have it in your inbox ready for you to get to your desk and start your day!
Changes to the traffic light thresholds can easily be made via the Settings popup dialog box and if you want to turn on the weekday red list emails, hit the checkbox in the Flags popup dialog box.
The YourPCM contact database started out as a spreadsheet with conditional formatting, but with Steffi having so much experience of web development, she knew she could do better by coding her own database.
"And YourPCM grew from there into the Customer Relationship Manager it is today!"
